Eden Race Drive enjoyed another strong Porsche Carrera Cup GB weekend, as Will Martin extended his lead on top of the standings, while Ollie White claimed two Pro-Am podium finishes.
Continuing to show great speed and form, the team took pole position in qualifying with Will Martin, who led the opening race. However, on the fourth of 17 laps, he took contact as the car behind made a move at the final corner and then had to go side-by-side into turn one to hold second, with his rival going off in the process. Harry was running well in fifth, but would unfortunately be handed two track limits penalties, dropping him well down the final order.
In Pro-Am, Will Aspin had contact on lap one, spinning to last place, but after the Safety Car bunched the pack up, he was able to make some forward progress, gaining five overall places and climbing to sixth in class. Ahead, Ollie fought his way through from seventh on the grid to take third with a few laps to go, making it a double podium success for the team.
In the second race, later that afternoon, Will Martin held his third position off the line and remained in that place to the flag, taking a step towards the championship title. Behind, Ollie converted his third place starting position into a second Pro-Am podium finish, while Will Aspin and Harry Foster found themselves stuck in a bit midfield battle and unable to make much forward progress.
With more trophies and the lead in both the Drivers’ and Entrants’ Championships, it has been another strong weekend in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for Eden Race Drive, which will next be in action in two weeks’ time at Knockhill in Scotland.

“We came to Croft aiming to extend our championship lead, and we are still leading the standings. There were a couple of unfortunate incidents in race one, but that’s racing, and overall, it’s been an enjoyable weekend with pole and two podiums. It’s a nice to position to be in when you’re a bit annoyed you haven’t got the win, but we can look back on the weekend and see it’s been another strong one. Eden Race Drive has done another phenomenal job as we hit the ground running every weekend, so a big thanks to them for their hard work,”

“In qualifying the track was damp and drying a bit, so I put in a decent lap to start fifth. I had a good start to race one and was up to fourth, comfortably, but then had what I can only describe as unfortunate track limits penalties. I didn’t think I was running wide at Sunny Out as unless you drop a wheel off the kerb, you’re not really going off track. That destroyed that race, and in race two there wasn’t much I could do as it’s tricky to overtake. I made one nice move on the outside of the hairpin, passing two people, but I didn’t think it was worth risking the car when we weren’t going to score any more points.”

“Race one was disappointing after taking contact on lap one. We made a good recovery, basically coming back from half a lap down, especially once the Safety Car came out. We managed to pick people off one by one, and it was a good recovery in the end. Race two was another disappointing one as we had hoped for a lot better. After race one it was going to be tough to move up the field because of how tough it is to pass at Croft and how tight the track is. In the end it’s all about where you qualify, but we had good race pace, so there are lots of positives to take away.”

“Race one was good, as we made places up, despite it being tricky to overtake, so I was quite happy with it to make it to the podium. Race two was more of the same. I made a few places up and had another podium, but it was harder to make progress as everyone was stretched out. The car has been really good all weekend, I just need to sort out my qualifying on Saturday and we’ll be in a good place.”
