Race Drive is very happy to confirm that Shiraz Khan will be one of its drivers for the 2023 Porsche Club Motorsport Boxster Cup, as part of a planned five car entry across Classes 1, 2, and 3.
Shiraz, who performs under the banner Khanage Racing, performed extremely well in the series last year, scoring three podium finishes, including an excellent double on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, where he crossed the line third in race one and second in race two.
Race Drive is comprised of a group of experienced and dedicated professionals and was formed by professional Racing Driver and Coach Dino Zamparelli. His experience enables the team to drive real knowledge and experience into its services.
A successful and five-time award-winning dentist, Shiraz was a Porsche Club GB track day regular who quickly found himself frustrated at not being able to achieve his full potential. Having known Dino for many years, he started working with Race Drive, leading to an entry into the Boxster Cup last year.
For 2023 Shiraz will step up to Class 2, testing himself against tougher opponents and on slick Pirelli tyres, but is excited for the challenge. The season begins at Donington Park at the start of April, taking in rounds across England and Wales, coming to a close at Snetterton in October.
Shiraz Khan
“I’ve known Dino for probably longer than Race Drive has been around and followed him in his Carrera Cup days. I’d done tuition with lots of people in the past and they all seemed to be relatively complimentary, but maybe it’s my pessimism as when someone’s overtly complimentary I don’t take it as I’m actually good, I usually think to myself well they’re trying to sell me more sessions!
“Dino is a hugely successful and accomplished racing driver, and it could be very easy for him to say what people need to hear, but with me that’s never been the case. He’s been very open about Race Drive, what his aspirations are, and he seems to be quite keen in working together and helping me achieve the best results I can. It’s been a sincere friendship and relationship from the beginning.
“I’m really lucky and grateful that I’m relatively well known within my industry, so I have had some fabulous support. We’ve had a 100% success rate in those who’ve already sponsored who want to come back again, so we’re doing something right. One thing about me is that I’m relatively humble. I think I’ve had a lucky / good first year with some half-decent results, but I’m very aware that a lot of these people are a lot more seasoned. Stepping up into Class 2 means I’ll be amongst aspirational company and testing myself against people at a higher level.”
