Eden Race Drive is pleased to announce that Pro-Am title hopeful Will Aspin will become the fourth driver in its Porsche Carrera Cup GB roster this season.
The 19-year-old, from Florence in Italy, has competed in the series for the past two seasons, scoring two wins and adding a further 10 podiums in class, as well as winning a Tag Heuer watch for recording more fastest laps than any other Pro-Am competitor last year.
Prior to that he finished third in the 2021 Ginetta GT5 Challenge, taking three wins and 10 podiums, after debuting in the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2019. He has also raced in the Porsche Supercup, Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, and Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe – taking a win in the latter last year.
Will joins Josh Malin, Oli White, and Harry Foster in the team, with the strong line-up aiming to challenge at the front of the field throughout the year. The first rounds of the season take place at Donington Park over the weekend of April 27/28, with both races featured as part of ITV’s live coverage.
Will Aspin
“It was a very late decision to be on the grid this year, but I am extremely happy to be back. At the end of last season, we started getting the results we were expecting, so I want to carry that on. It has been a tough winter as I tore my ACL and had an operation. A lot was then pushed back after that injury, but once I could start training, I have been working hard.
“It’s exciting to start with a new team and it will be a good partnership. It’s looking like a strong year with Harry Foster, Josh Malin, and Oli White as my teammates as they’re all quick drivers and we can learn from each other. it’s my third year and there are no excuses, so we’ll push for the championship.”
Dino Zamparelli, Team Manager
“We’re very happy to welcome Will to the team. We’ve been talking to each other for a while and it’s great to be able to get him over the line and on the grid in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this season. He’s already shown he is fast in the car and has been working hard to get prepared for the year, so we can’t wait to properly get started and help him try to achieve his goal of winning the Pro-Am championship. He has plenty of experience to build on and has impressed us with his positive mindset already.”
