Race Drive Motorsport is very happy to announce the third of its drivers for the Porsche Club Motorsport Boxster Cup this season, as Perry Darling joins the roster, competing in Class 3.
A lover of fast cars from childhood, Perry was a competitive youngster which has followed through into his adult life. He is also a businessman, having founded Perling, one of the most trusted builder and construction companies in Essex.
Relatively new to the competition side of motorsport, Perry had his first race just three years ago in the Classic & Modern Motorsport Club, claiming pole position, a win, and a second place in class in his first race.
Working with Race Drive’s Colin Tester, as part of his Supatune Motorsport team, he has raced in a variety of series and championships, including the MSV Super Cup and All Porsche Trophy.
Making the switch to the Porsche Boxster Cup in 2022, he had mixed fortunes with some bad luck, but is keen to get back on track this year, with hopes of cracking the top three championship positions at the end of the season.
Perry Darling
“I am buzzing to get back out on track and I cannot wait for the season to get underway. I’ve been working with Colin Tester for the past three years so it will be nice that he is part of the Race Drive team. There’ll be some different dynamics this year and a different way the team is run, but I am happy with that. Dino joined us for the last few races of the season, so I’ve worked with him a little bit and it seemed to go well.
“I was racing a front-wheel-drive hatchback before, and Colin asked if I wanted to try a Porsche as it’s a level playing field with the same engines and a better structure. I wanted to see how good I was as a driver, as sometimes you came up against people with faster cars. Last year was my first in the Porsche and I’m still learning, but I still ended up seventh in the championship and, if things start to go well, I might be able to crack the top three.”
